Solarize South Kingstown

SolarFlair is proud to have a partnership with Solarize Rhode Island. Together, we're helping Rhode Island residents get clean, sustainable energy, one house at a time.

The program has ended - please contact us for current information.

To lock in additional program benefits, home and business owners must sign a contract with their community's designated solar installer by May 31, 2018.

Rebates and Incentives

Solar Power is more affordable than ever for Rhode Island homeowners.
With the variety of financial options and incentives available, SolarFlair understands that going solar can be confusing for homeowners which is why we will take the time to explain ALL of the options.  At SolarFlair, we take an advisory approach to helping customers understand the solar opportunity and we will take the time to thoroughly explain everything.  We take the guesswork out of residential solar power.

Here is a list of available incentives with links to the most up-to-date information regarding state and federal incentives and grants. In Rhode Island a Residential Homeowner can only choose one of the two available incentives:

Renewable Energy Growth Program (REG)

In 2014 the Clean Energy Jobs Program Act was passed, which called for an increase in local renewable distributed generation (wind, solar, small-scale hydropower etc.). The Renewable Energy Growth Program is managed by National Grid and was formed to encourage homeowners and small businesses to invest in local renewable energy. The REG Program allows customers to sell their electricity back to the utility at a fixed rate, this rate can range between 22.75 – 34.75 cents per kilowatt-hour with term lengths of 15 or 20 years. Residential homeowners with solar panels installed will receive a credit towards there bill, where the amount of the credit is based on what fixed rate the homeowner chooses and their monthly solar production. If that credit is larger than their bill in a given month, the customer will receive a check for the balance from National Grid. If you would like to learn more about the REG Program, Click Here.

Commerce Corporation Renewable Energy Fund (REF)

Commerce Rhode Island created the REF program with a goal to develop a structure for Rhode Island citizens, so that they’re able to take full advantage of all the great benefits that come along with renewable energy sources. For Residential customers, the REF program provides grants based on DC system size. An REF grant can provide a subsidy ranging from 25% - 30% of your solar electric system. With a Federal Tax Credit of 30%, some homeowners will have recouped 60% of their solar investment after one year of ownership. If you would like to know more about the REF Grant Program, Click Here.
