System & Electrical Upgrades
System Upgrades
For years now customers have asked us for this type of service. We now have the ability to make those dreams a reality!
This section will cover the reasons you should consider a Full System Upgrade, when to consider an Upgrade, and the benefits in the short term and long term after doing so. The technology that exists today was simply not available to us a decade ago.
We are very excited to have this solution for our customers!
You Might Have One or More Reasons to Consider a System Upgrade
- Your System Was Built Pre 2014 – Most systems built prior to 2014 do not meet current Electrical Code Guidelines; multiple new releases of the code have been done since your installation. Most importantly, some of those systems are not equipped with Rapid Shutdown. In most cases, the equipment is obsolete and irreplaceable once it begins to fail. Please reach out if you would like to know more about where your system might stand if it was built during this timeframe. Making your system safer is a huge benefit from a System Upgrade.
- Need to Replace the Roof – If you’re planning to replace your roof, this is the perfect time to consider a System Upgrade, since you will be spending money to pull the system down and put it back up anyway. (You do not want to be in the opposite situation in 10-15 years, where the solar system needs to be replaced but you still have life in the roof). The benefit here is the Upgraded system would have new warranties and the life of the system would be more in line with the life of the new roof.
- Increased Consumption Since Solar was Installed – Perhaps over the years you have added to your electrical usage; maybe added a hot tub or pool, installed an electric water heater, started working from home, etc. It is not exactly possible to add to your existing system, but it is totally possible to add another Solar System to your home to counter your increased usage. However, in most cases your best roof surfaces are covered up. The benefit of doing a System Upgrade is that it allows us to use a larger-watt panel. This allows us to use less panels to get you the same amount of energy, potentially freeing up roof space for another system and giving you an updated system that can now match the new one (an old and new system on the same home can be an eyesore).
- You Want Your System to look like Your Neighbors – You might have been the first on your street to get solar; now everyone has followed your lead but your system does not look as sleek as theirs. If you are looking for a more aesthetically pleasing array, a System Upgrade might be for you.
Electrical Upgrades
We receive many cases each year involving a customer who is getting the Electrical service on their home upgraded. In order to do so, the solar needs to be temporarily disconnected and then tied back in. Most Electricians who have never worked with Solar won’t even touch it; others will, but don’t realize the doing so will void your Workmanship Warranty on your installation.
Here at SolarFlair we do not just install Solar; we also do upgrades to homes on a regular basis. If you are in need of this service, give us a call. Disconnecting and reconnecting the solar will come at no additional cost to the upgrade. However, if we need to stop by before and after the upgrade to assist the electrician you hire, you would be charged for each trip to site.
